Bellingham

The splendidly craggy Groot Drakenstein mountains, which flow into the long, bountiful Franschhoek valley, have long inspired the creation of superb wines in this most beautiful area of Southern Africa. It was here, more than 350 years ago, that Hollander Gerrit Janz van Vuuren cleared the fynbos, tilled the virgin soil and planted the first 1000 vines which heralded the genesis of Bellingham. Since then, Bellingham winemakers have lovingly toiled the land, nurtured the vines and carefully crafted wines of great diversity and character, among which many South African firsts, like Shiraz and the country’s initial dry white blend.
